Our visit to the Lotus Tower in Colombo

By now, you hopefully have all the information you need in order to visit the Lotus Tower yourself. So in this part of the blog post, we’re just going to share a bit of extra information and a few pictures from our visit.

We visited the Lotus Tower in January 2023, only 4 months after it officially opened to the public. Needless to say, we were pretty excited to have the opportunity to visit this incredible building after it’s been under construction for so many years.

We planned to visit the Lotus Tower for sunset, and we honestly can’t recommend a better time of the day to go!

From we bought the tickets at the entrance until we were standing at the observation deck only took about 5 minutes. It was incredible how fast the elevator rode to the top!

At the observation deck, you’ll find an incredible view of Colombo from a 344 meters height. The observation deck circles around the lotus bud, which basically means you have the possibility to see the city from all angles. Standing up here and watching the sun go down is just unbelievably beautiful.

Is the Lotus Tower worth it?

Since the ticket price to the Lotus Tower is pretty steep for tourists, we felt that we should write a thing or two about whether or not it’s actually worth a visit.

We think that if you go at sunset, then the Lotus Tower is definitely worth a visit – cause then you both get to see Colombo during the daylight and during nighttime. This is pretty unique!

However, if we were traveling on a very tight budget, then we’d skip the tower for a free sunset at Galle Face Green instead. This is just our honest recommendation for anyone out there with an empty wallet who still wants to experience a beautiful sunset in Colombo.

But if you have the means to visit, then we encourage you to spend the money and go! Just like visiting any other skyscraper, the view from the Lotus Tower will forever cement in your memory.

Looking back, we’re definitely happy that we decided to spent the money and visit the incredible building.
