Welcome to Worldwide walkers

An honest travel blog that takes you around the world.

Hi! We’re Glenn and Cecilie, an international couple who just can’t get enough of traveling. During our trips we collect experiences, information, and pictures so we can share everything with you in this travel blog. We create city guides, we share our experiences with specific attractions, and we give you our best travel tips along the way.

Why we aren’t just another travel blog…

With so many travel blogs online today it can be hard to navigate between the good and the bad eggs. While we have so many amazing colleagues in the industry, travel blogs have become a lucrative industry where some people unfortunately value money higher than sharing the truth.

That’s why in our travel blog, you won’t find us writing about places we’ve never been to and you won’t find any sponsored posts.

We pay for everything on the road including all hotels and experiences. Why? Because we want to recommend places we genuinely love to you. That way, we can also keep the budget-friendly mentality, which we travel by ourselves.

We earn some money from this travel blog through affiliate marketing and ads. This means, we can actually recommend the things we believe in to you. That’s pretty great and you can read more about it here: Affiliate disclaimer.

We genuinely believe that all places have something to offer, so you will never hear us say: “Don’t travel there, it’s not worth it.” Because who are we to be judges about where you should go? And someone might love a place that someone else will hate.

So in our travel blog, we focus on what’s good about a place and share it with you. That being said, we also try to set expectations by sharing our own misadventures along the way. In any way, our aim is to be honest and helpful to you, our dear reader.

Who are we?

Hi I’m Cecilie!

I’m the writer at wowiwalkers.com.

I’m a 20-something from Denmark who’s always looking for an excuse to pack my backpack and go explore a new place in this beautiful world.

I love hiking, dogs and red wine.

Glenn's about image

This is Glenn!

He is the creative creator at wowiwalkers.com

Glenn is my other half from Belgium. Better half I don’t know – but I definitely wouldn’t want to live without him.

He loves graphic design, dogs and Belgian beer.

Our story

Our story begins in April 2016 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

We met on a rooftop bar in a hostel, shared one day of exploring together, and went our separate ways. Glenn moved onto Thailand and I traveled to New Zealand. But we just weren’t finished with each other.

We texted for a little over a month before Glenn jumped on a plane to see me in Copenhagen. This is when our 3-year long-distance relationship began. Not coming from the same country meant that we could only see each other for a couple of days every month. These 3 years were honestly awful. But somehow our relationship survived it, and the reward in the end was worth it.

During the 3 years of long-distance we’d been saving up money to go on a massive trip around the world. The plan was to go for a full year! During this year we ended up in Thailand – Malaysia – Japan – Vietnam – Cambodia – Singapore – Indonesia – New Zealand – Chile – Bolivia – Portugal.

But when we reached Bolivia, 9 months into the trip, the Covid chaos began. We took a last-minute flight to Portugal and decided to ride out the storm here. After 3 months in beautiful Lisbon, we realized that Covid was here to stay, and that travel was off-limits for the next amount of time.

So we decided to move to Belgium for a year, which is lenn’s home country. This was undoubtedly one of the worst years of our lives due to family loss and world chaos. But like everyone else, we somehow managed and found our way.

After a year in Belgium, we decided to go again. We had to make up for the 3 months we were stuck in Portugal, so we decided to go on a 3-month trip around Europe where we visited Greece – Italy – Portugal.

After this trip, we decided to base ourselves in Copenhagen, which is where I (Cecilie) am from. We’ve finally built a home together after so many years of uncertainty.

The truth is that it’s hard to never really have a base. The whole “quit your 9-5 job and see the world forever” is just not for everyone. We traveled full time for a year, and it was great! But never having a place where you can dump your stuff or rest your head just wasn’t for us. So now, we live permanently in Copenhagen but that certainly doesn’t mean that we don’t travel!

We still do trips around the world, the difference now is that we just go back home afterwards. In a way, that’s also more relatable to many of our dear readers who doesn’t want to quit their job to travel, but who just loves to go on holiday.

So as you can hear, we’ve tried a little bit of everything.

We’ve dipped our toes into full time travel, short city trips, solo traveling, couples traveling, budget traveling, and mid range traveling.

After years of evolving, we now find ourselves as worldwide budget-friendly couple travelers who just happens to own their own home as well.
